Tom Cruise has no idea what he has unleashed.

Check out a new featurette for the big-budget supernatural action thriller "The Mummy," in which Cruise and other members of the cast try to explain the concept behind what they're hoping to be the first of a new action-horror franchise inspired by Universal's classic monster movies.

The clip offers a better insight into Russell Crowe's character and his clandestine mission. It seems Crowe is playing Dr. Henry Jekyll (of Jekyll and Hyde) and he runs a secret organization called the "Prodigium." Their job is to track down "evil" and eliminate it.

Directed by Alex Kurtzman and starring Sofia Boutella (Star Trek Beyond) as the titular monster, "The Mummy" opens June 9th.

Tom Cruise headlines a spectacular, all-new cinematic version of the legend that has fascinated cultures all over the world since the dawn of civilization: The Mummy.

Thought safely entombed in a tomb deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient princess (Sofia Boutella, of "Kingsman: The Secret Service" and "Star Trek Beyond") whose destiny was unjustly taken from her is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension.

From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through hidden labyrinths under modern-day London, The Mummy brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters.
