British actors Jamie Bell and Mark Strong must prevent a hostage crisis from escalating in the new full-length trailer for "6 Days."

From director Toa Fraser and screenwriter Glenn Standring, the filmmaking team behind the acclaimed New Zealand period action film "The Dead Lands," "6 Days" is a new British hostage thriller that tells the true story of how British government officials managed the 1980 hostage crisis, during which six armed terrorists took control of the Iranian Embassy in London and held 26 people as hostages for six tense-filled days.

Bell plays a leader of an elite British military task force, known as SAS, while Strong is an experience British hostage negotiator who's been called in to handle the negotiating process and hopefully to defused the situation before any hostages are hurt or killed. In the meantime, Bell's SAS team are waiting in position with the orders to move in when and if shots are fired.

Australian actress Abbie Cornish (Limitless, Sucker Punch) co-stars as a television news reporter in London who is reporting live from the embassy as the events unfold in real time.

"6 Days" is due to open in the U.K. on August 4th. As of yet, there's no official U.S. release date.

In April 1980, six armed gunmen stormed the Iranian Embassy in Princes Gate, London, taking 26 people inside hostage. Over the next six days a tense standoff took place, all the while a group of highly trained soldiers from the SAS prepared for a raid, the likes of which the world had never seen before.

The film was shot on location in London, in and around Knightsbridge. The screenplay was written by acclaimed screenwriter Glenn Standring after extensive research and interviews with various individuals who played a key part in the days leading up to, during, and after the Embassy siege. The framework for the film largely follows the perspective of three people who played a vital part in the events at the time -- hostage negotiator Max Vernon, the man responsible for communicating with the terrorists inside the building; news reporter Kate Adie, who was covering the events for the BBC and Rusty Firmin, leader of one of the SAS assault teams that entered the Iranian Embassy to end the siege.
