A brand new teaser trailer has been released for "Snowfall," the new FX series hailing from "Boyz N the Hood" filmmaker John Singleton.

Set in 1983, the cable drama is chronicling the crack cocaine epidemic in Los Angeles. The story will follow the lives of several characters, but mainly focusing on a young African-American man in South Central Los Angeles (played by up-and-comer Damson Idris; from the upcoming "Megan Leavey") who has decided to "rewrite the rules" by becoming a lucrative drug dealer.

The cast also includes Sergio Peris-Mencheta, Carter Hudson, and Emily Rios.

Singleton, who had recently been nominated for an Emmy for directing one of the episodes on FX's hit miniseries "The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story," is helming the pilot episode of "Snowfall."

Co-created by Singleton alongside Eric Amadio and Dave Andron (Justified), the series is slated to premiere Wednesday, July 5th on FX.
