Here's the very first trailer for "The Dark Tower," the long-awaited big-screen adaptation of Stephen King's classic fantasy book series, featuring the never-ending, epic battle between a hero gunslinger named Roland Deschain (played here by Idris Elba) and his formidable nemesis, The Man in Black (Matthew McConaughey).

The film, directed and co-adapted by acclaimed Danish filmmaker Nikolaj Arcel (A Royal Affair), also stars newcomer Tom Taylor as Jake Chambers, a young boy who is magically swept into the gunslinger's world and becomes his unlikely protege.

Produced by Stephen King, Akiva Goldsman, Ron Howard, and Brian Grazer, "The Dark Tower" co-stars Katheryn Winnick, Dennis Haysbert, Jose Zuniga and Jackie Earle Haley.

The film is due to arrive in theaters on August 4th.
