A sleazy private eye receives a rude awakening when he mistakenly opens a demonic book in the trailer for "Residue."

Part neo-noir, part supernatural horror, indie writer-director Rusty Nixon (Candiland) works with producing partner James Clayton, who also stars as Luke Harding, a down-and-out private investigator who agrees to do a job for a local crime boss. His assignment is to deliver a concealed package to one of his associates. But when the book-shaped box gets damaged during a surprise shootout, Harding decides to open it -- a decision he may soon regret.

The cast includes genre vet Matt Frewer (Orphan Black, Dawn of the Dead), Costas Mandylor (from the "Saw" films), Taylor Hickson (Deadpool), Elysia Rotaru (CW's Arrow) and William B. Davis (aka Cigarette Smoking Man from "The X-Files" franchise).

"Residue" is scheduled to make its world premiere this weekend at the 2017 Sunscreen Film Festival in St. Petersburg, Florida. It's also due to be released on VOD and iTunes on July 18th.
