FX has released a new teaser trailer for "Snowfall," an upcoming drama series created by "Boyz N the Hood " filmmaker John Singleton, which will be chronicling the crack cocaine epidemic that tore through South Los Angeles in 1983.

The FX drama stars Damson Idris (from the upcoming military drama " Megan Leavey") as a young African-American man who gets swept up by the new crack-cocaine culture in his LA neighborhood and becomes a rising local drug dealer.

The series will also delve into the lives of several other characters that include a Mexican wrestler (Sergio Peris-Mencheta), a rogue CIA agent (Carter Hudson), and the daughter of a Mexican crime lord (Emily Rios).

Also, created by Eric Amadio and Dave Andron (Justified), "Snowfall" will be premiering sometime this summer on FX.

synopsis:
Los Angeles. 1983. A storm is coming and its name is cocaine. Snowfall is a one-hour drama set against the infancy of the crack cocaine epidemic and its ultimate radical impact on the culture as we know it.

The story follows numerous characters on a violent collision course, including: Franklin Saint (Damson Idris), young street entrepreneur on a quest for power; Gustavo Zapata (Sergio Peris-Mencheta), a Mexican wrestler caught up in a power struggle within a crime family; Teddy McDonald (Carter Hudson), a CIA operative running from a dark past who begins an off-book operation to fund the Nicaraguan Contras; and Lucia Villanueva (Emily Rios), the self-possessed daughter of a Mexican crime lord.
