It's not scheduled to air until 2018, but you can now check out the first trailer for "Marvel's Cloak & Dagger," a new action/superhero series for ABC's Freeform cable network.
Created by Joe Pokaski (co-creator of WGN America's hit series "Underground"), the Marvel television drama is based on the 1980s superhero duo of the same name, centering on two teenagers who not only find themselves possessing super powers, but also discovering that their powers are somehow linked to one another.
Actor Aubrey Joseph (from HBO's "The Night Of") plays Tyrone Johnson (aka Cloak), a high school athlete who finds out that he has the ability to submerge people into total darkness. Actress Olivia Holt (from Disney's "Kickin' It") plays Tandy Bowen (aka Dagger), a troubled teen who discovers she can create daggers made of light. Together, they become a force for good while becoming a romantic couple at the same time.
The series will run for 10 episodes on the Freeform channel, which is slated for an early 2018 premiere.
Filmmaker Gina Prince-Bythewood (TV's Shots Fired, Beyond the Lights, Love & Basketball) is directing the pilot episode, which also stars Gloria Reuben (of "ER" fame).
"Marvel's Cloak & Dagger" is the story of Tandy Bowen (Olivia Holt) and Tyrone Johnson (Aubrey Joseph) -- two teenagers from very different backgrounds, who find themselves burdened and awakened to newly acquired superpowers which are mysteriously linked to one another. Tandy can emit light daggers and Tyrone has the ability to engulf others in darkness. They quickly learn they are better together than apart, but their feelings for each other make their already complicated world even more challenging.
