Here's the trailer for the inspirational documentary "Step," which follows the lives of three African-American high-school seniors from the city of Baltimore as they try to balance their after-school duties as devoted members of an all-girl step dance team with maintaining their family and personal responsibilities that, for the most part, include striving for a college education.

Documentary filmmaker Amanda Lipitz makes her feature debut with "Step," which ended up taking home the Special Jury Prize when it premiered earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival.

"Step," which has been compared to the critically-acclaimed documentary "Hoop Dreams," will be released in theaters in the summer, on August 4th.

synopsis:
STEP documents the senior year of a girls’ high-school step dance team against the background of inner-city Baltimore. As each one tries to become the first in their families to attend college, the girls strive to make their dancing a success against the backdrop of social unrest in the troubled city.
