Robert De Niro discards people like "road kill" in the new full-length trailer for HBO's upcoming Bernard Madoff biopic "The Wizard of Lies."

The 73-year-old Oscar-winner taps into his inner "mutt" as he takes on the role of one of the most reviled figures in the history of Wall Street: notorious New York investment advisor Bernard Madoff, who in December of 2008 was arrested for masterminding the largest Ponzi scheme in American history.

And though Madoff ultimately ended up pleading guilty to his malicious crimes, the scandal had an intensely adverse effect on his family -- namely, his wife, Ruth, (played here by Michelle Pfeiffer) and his two adult sons, Mark and Andrew, (played by Alessandro Nivola and Nathan Darrow).

Oscar-winning director Barry Levinson (Rain Man) helms the HBO movie, which is based on the best-selling investigative book by financial journalist Diana B. Henriques.

Co-starring Lily Rabe, Kristen Connolly, and Hank Azaria, "The Wizard of Lies" will premiere on Saturday, May 20th.

In 2008, stockbroker, investment advisor, and financier Bernie Madoff made headlines around the world when he was arrested for perpetrating perhaps the largest financial fraud in U.S. history.

HBO Films' THE WIZARD OF LIES examines Bernie Madoff's Ponzi scheme -- his deception, lies, and cover-up, all as the financier's wife and sons are catapulted into a harsh and unrelenting spotlight.
