Alexi Pappas is a Greek-American long distance runner who competed in last year's Rio Olympics for Greece. She is also somewhat of a modern-day renaissance woman as she is an avid poet, essayist, and has also dabbled with sketch and improv comedy. She now adds filmmaking and acting to that list.

The 27-year-old Pappas makes her feature film debut with her semi-biographical coming-of-age comedy "Tracktown" about a long-distance runner whose Olympic aspiration is slightly hindered when she begins to fall in love with the local bakery clerk. Pappas not only stars in the film, but she also co-wrote and co-directed it with her filmmaker boyfriend, Jeremy Teicher.

Co-starring Chase Offerle, Andy Buckley, and Rachel Dratch, "Tracktown" premiered to positive reviews at the 2016 Los Angeles Film Festival. The film is now getting a small theatrical and VOD release next month, beginning May 12th. Watch the trailer, above.

synopsis:
Plumb Marigold is a famous but lonely distance runner preparing for the biggest race of her life: The Olympic Trials. But when an injury forces her to take an unexpected day off, Plumb wanders into a bakery where the aimless boy behind the counter catches her eye. In this story that captures the experience of a young Olympic hopeful, many of the actors are actual Olympic athletes -- including co-writer/director and lead actor Alexi Pappas.
