There's a 'don't blink or you'll miss it' moment in the new 30-second commercial for "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales," in which it reveals footage of Orlando Bloom as a barnacle-covered Will Turner in a quick (flashback?) scene that has him caressing the face of a young boy as they stand on a sinking pirate ship. Presumably, the boy is his son. And presumably, that boy will grow up to be the young sailor character portrayed by Australian actor Brenton Thwaites, who we now know is named "Henry Turner."

The spot, which boasts the tagline: "all pirates must die," appears to be having some fun with keeping the audience in suspense. Especially, when it comes to the fate of Johnny Depp's Captain Jack Sparrow, who, this time around, finds himself being hunted by a notorious pirate slayer: Spanish Ghost Captain Armando Salazar, played by Oscar-winner Javier Bardem. The fact that Sparrow killed Salazar decades ago only makes him more formidable and menacing.

"POTC: Dead Men Tell No Tales" is the fifth entry in the Disney attraction-based film franchise, following "On Stranger Tides" (which, by the way, co-starred Bardem's wife, Penelope Cruz). The film is also starring British actress Kaya Scodelario (from "The Maze Runner") as a feisty astronomer who crosses paths with Sparrow while tracking down the powerful relic "Trident of Poseidon."

Directed by acclaimed Norwegian directors Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg, "Dead Men Tell No Tales" is coming to theaters on May 26th.

synopsis:
Johnny Depp returns to the big screen as the iconic, swashbuckling anti-hero Jack Sparrow in the all-new "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales."

The rip-roaring adventure finds down-on-his-luck Captain Jack feeling the winds of ill-fortune blowing strongly his way when deadly ghost sailors, led by the terrifying Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil's Triangle bent on killing every pirate at sea -- notably Jack. Jack's only hope of survival lies in the legendary Trident of Poseidon, but to find it he must forge an uneasy alliance with Carina Smyth (Kaya Scodelario), a brilliant and beautiful astronomer, and Henry (Brenton Thwaites), a headstrong young sailor in the Royal Navy.

At the helm of the Dying Gull, his pitifully small and shabby ship, Captain Jack seeks not only to reverse his recent spate of ill fortune, but to save his very life from the most formidable and malicious foe he has ever faced.
