An expert occultist and a grieving mother try to access the spirit world through a dark, taboo ritual, only to realize that they opened a door that should have remained shut.

Check out the newly released U.S. trailer for "A Dark Song," a British horror thriller that stars Irish actress Catherine Walker (from the period costume series "Versailles") and English character actor Steve Oram (star and co-writer of Ben Wheatley's darkly comic serial-killer movie "Sightseers") as two deeply damaged people who get more than they bargain for when they recklessly perform a forbidden seance inside an abandoned country house.

Written and directed by first-time feature filmmaker Liam Gavin, "A Dark Song" has been a cult favorite on the festival circuit, which included a premiere at the 2016 Fantastic Fest. The film is now scheduled to hit U.S. theaters and VOD on April 28th.

synopsis:
An unholy alliance between two damaged souls leads them on a disturbing descent into the depraved realms of black magic. Sophia (Catherine Walker) is a grieving mother desperate to make contact with her murdered son. Joseph (Sightseers' Steve Oram) is an anti-social, alcoholic expert in the occult who reluctantly agrees to help her. Holed up in a remote house amidst the desolate wilds of Northern Wales, the two embark on a grueling six-month series of dark rituals that will push them both to the physical and psychological breaking point. The debut feature from rising horror auteur Liam Gavin sustains an air of quietly creeping dread as it builds towards one hell of a payoff.
