Here's the first teaser trailer for Netflix's film adaptation of the mega-popular Japanese horror manga "Death Note," starring Nat Wolff (star of "Paper Towns" and "The Fault in Our Stars") as Light Turner, a high school teenager whose life takes a bizarre turn when he unexpectedly gets his hands on a supernatural notebook that grants him the power to murder anybody he chooses without any risk or real danger of getting caught.

Directed by noted horror director Adam Wingard (Blair Witch, The Guest, You're Next), the Netflix movie also stars Margaret Qualley (HBO's The Leftovers), Lakeith Stanfield (Get Out), Paul Nakauchi (Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End), and Shea Whigham (Kong: Skull Island). Meanwhile, two-time Oscar-nominated actor Willem Dafoe (Shadow of the Vampire, Platoon) is playing the voice of Ryuk, a spiky demon creature that emerges from the shadows once a victim is chosen.

"Death Note" is due to premiere Friday, August 25th, exclusively on Netflix.

synopsis:
What if you had the power to decide who lives and who dies? We suggest you obey the rules.

Based on the famous Japanese manga written by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata, Death Note follows a high school student who comes across a supernatural notebook, realizing it holds within it a great power; if the owner inscribes someone's name into it while picturing their face, he or she will die. Intoxicated with his new godlike abilities, the young man begins to kill those he deems unworthy of life.
