Jake Gyllenhaal and Ryan Reynolds have a bone-crushing encounter with a hostile alien being in the new restricted trailer for the astronauts-in-peril thriller "Life."

Written by the screenwriters of "Deadpool," Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, "Life" sees Gyllenhaal and Reynolds as members of an international team of astronauts who have discovered a highly sophisticated life form from Mars. While excited about making one of the most important discoveries in history, their cheers quickly turn into blood-curdling screams when the Martian organism rapidly evolves into a human killing machine, possibly with the intent of landing on Earth to wreak death and destruction.

Rebecca Ferguson (Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation), Ariyon Bakare (BBC's Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell), Hiroyuki Sanada (The Wolverine), and Olga Dihovichnaya (Twilight Portrait) round out the cast. While Daniel Espinosa, the Swedish-born helmer of the thrillers "Safe House" and "Child 44," directs.

"Life" opens in theaters next week on March 24th.

synopsis:
Life tells the story of the six-member crew of the International Space Station that is on the cutting edge of one of the most important discoveries in human history: the first evidence of extraterrestrial life on Mars. As the crew begins to conduct research, their methods end up having unintended consequences and the life form proves more intelligent than anyone ever expected.
