Raised on a faraway island and trained to be the ultimate Amazonian warrior. This summer, a new kind of superhero will rise. And she will defend the world from a terrible evil.

Feast your eyes on a brand-new trailer for "Wonder Woman," the eagerly anticipated DC Comics action movie starring Gal Gadot as the iconic superheroine who is known for donning indestructible bracelets while wielding a mighty mythical sword, shield, and golden lasso.

Set against the backdrop of World War I, the upcoming film serves as an origin story, in which Diana Prince (Gadot, reprising her role from "Batman v Superman"), who is an immortal Amazon princess and the daughter of Zeus, has been shielded from outside influences for most of her life. But when an injured male WWI fighter pilot (played by Star Trek's Chris Pine) is dragged ashore on her female-only home island of Themyscira, Diana is finally exposed to the outside world and all of its dangers.

And upon hearing about the horrible events of the Great War, Diana chooses to team up with Pine's Steve Trevor as they travel to "Jolly Old England" on a mission to stop evil forces from destroying the world.

Co-starring Connie Nielsen (Gladiator) as Diana's mother Queen Hippolyta; Robin Wright (House of Cards) as Diana's ferocious aunt General Antiope; Lucy Davis (The 'British' Office) as Steve's happy-go-lucky secretary Etta Candy; Danny Huston (Big Eyes) as German General Erich Ludendorff, and Elena Anaya (The Skin I Live In) as mad scientist Doctor Poison, the comic book movie is directed by filmmaker Patty Jenkins, of the Charlize Theron-starring serial killer thriller "Monster."

"Wonder Woman" arrives in theaters on June 2nd.

synopsis:
Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers ... and her true destiny.
