With her unforgettable turn as the one-armed Imperator Furiosa in the action blockbuster "Mad Max: Fury Road," Charlize Theron proved to the world that she can kick ass with the best of them. But if you need a quick reminder that the Oscar-winner isn't just a pretty face -- well, the first restricted trailer for the sexy retro action thriller "Atomic Blonde" is here, and it's filled with enough throat punches and kicks to the groin that would probably make Furiosa green with envy.

Directed by stuntman-turned-film director David Leitch, of "John Wick" fame, who is currently attached to helm "Deadpool 2," "Atomic Blonde" is the live-action adaptation of the graphic spy novel "The Coldest City" by writer Antony Johnston and illustrator Sam Hart.

Theron plays Lorraine Broughton, a highly-skilled MI6 assassin who is sent to Germany during the days leading up to the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989. Once there, Lorraine teams up with an undercover operative (played by James McAvoy) as they both investigate the recent murder of a fellow MI6 agent.

"Atomic Blonde" co-stars John Goodman, Til Schweiger, Eddie Marsan, Sofia Boutella and Toby Jones, and will soon be making its world premiere this weekend at the SXSW Film Festival, before opening in theaters on July 28th.

synopsis:
Oscar-winner Charlize Theron explodes into summer in Atomic Blonde, a breakneck action-thriller that follows MI6's most lethal assassin through a ticking time bomb of a city simmering with revolution and double-crossing hives of traitors.

The crown jewel of Her Majesty's Secret Intelligence Service, Agent Lorraine Broughton (Theron) is equal parts spycraft, sensuality and savagery, willing to deploy any of her skills to stay alive on her impossible mission. Sent alone into Berlin to deliver a priceless dossier out of the destabilized city, she partners with embedded station chief David Percival (James McAvoy) to navigate her way through the deadliest game of spies.
