Gerard Butler must choose between his family or his career in the trailer for the forthcoming drama "A Family Man," which also stars Gretchen Mol, Willem Dafoe, Alison Brie, and Alfred Molina.

Here, Butler plays a successful corporate headhunter who is in the middle of a heated rivalry with a competitive co-worker (Brie) when he learns that his 10-year-old son (Max Jenkins) has been diagnosed with cancer. While trying to navigate through the crisis with his wife (Mol), he finds the situation adversely affecting his performance at work. Now he's forced to make a life-defining choice: give up his chance of becoming the general manager at his company or spend more quality time with his sick kid.

Film producer Mark Williams makes his directorial debut with "A Family Man," which is written by "The Accountant" scribe Bill Dubuque.

The film will be released sometime in May, exclusively on DirectTV through its VOD service.

synopsis:
After the boss (Willem Dafoe) of a Chicago-based headhunter, Dane Jensen (Gerard Butler), who works at the Blackrock Recruiting agency arranging jobs for engineers, retires, Jensen finally achieves his longtime goal of taking over the company after going head-to-head with his ambitious rival, Lynn Vogel (Alison Brie). However, upon taking over the company he worked so hard to be in control of, Dane's 10-year-old son, Ryan (Max Jenkins), is suddenly diagnosed with cancer and his professional priorities at work and personal priorities at home begin to clash with one another.
