"Game of Thrones" star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau can't seem to escape his criminal past in the newly-released trailer for the Netflix thriller "Small Crimes," which is helmed by Evan "E.L." Katz, the director of the cult horror comedy "Cheap Thrills."

Coster-Waldau stars as Joe Denton, a disgraced cop who has just been released from prison for attempted murder. After returning to his hometown, Joe hopes for a clean slate. But he soon finds himself on a long winding road to redemption as shady characters from his past try to lure him back to a life he now regrets.

The film co-stars Gary Cole, Jacki Weaver, Robert Forster, Molly Parker, Michael Kinney, Pat Healy and Macon Blair, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Katz. (Blair is also the writer-director of the acclaimed Netflix film "I Don't Feel at Home in This World Anymore," which was released a couple of weeks ago).

"Small Crimes" is set to be released on Netflix on Friday, April 28th. But it will first premiere this weekend at the SXSW Film Festival.

synopsis:
