Scarlett Johansson wakes up with a brand-new cybernetic body in a new promo teaser for "Ghost in the Shell," director Rupert Sanders' live-action adaptation of the classic cyberpunk manga series by Japanese artist Masamune Shirow, which was also turned into a popular 1995 anime movie.
In this English-language big-screen version, Johansson takes on the role of Major, a human cyborg super-agent who, after tracking down an elusive cyber-terrorist mastermind (played by Michael Pitt), is shocked to learn that her life wasn't saved but was stolen by the very people she trusted.
"They took my life, I'll take my revenge," says Johansson in the above clip.
"Ghost in the Shell" co-stars Juliette Binoche, Pilou Asbaek, and veteran Japanese actor Takeshi Kitano. It's set to open nationwide on March 31st.
Based on the internationally-acclaimed sci-fi property, "GHOST IN THE SHELL" follows the Major, a special ops, one-of-a-kind human-cyborg hybrid, who leads the elite task force Section 9. Devoted to stopping the most dangerous criminals and extremists, Section 9 is faced with an enemy whose singular goal is to wipe out Hanka Robotic's advancements in cyber technology.
