A newly released teaser trailer provides the very first peek at Netflix's much-awaited monster movie "Okja," which is hailing from acclaimed South Korean filmmaker Bong Joon-ho, of "The Host" and "Snowpiercer" fame.

Tilda Swinton appears in the short clip, playing a mysterious tech/science mogul. Her character is holding a type of press conference as she strolls into a room filled with reporters. "I took nature ... and science," Swinton says as she interlocks her fingers in front of her face. "And I synthesized [them]."

The film, which is set both in South Korea and New York, follows a young Korean girl named Mija (played by 13-year-old Korean actress Ahn Seo-hyun) as she befriends a strange but shy creature that's been hiding in the woods. (The creature, we assume, was genetically created by Swinton's character -- or perhaps, it was generated by her shady science company.) In either case, the creature, which is called "Okja," becomes targeted by a powerful corporation, forcing Mija to take matters into her own hands to protect her new friend.

In addition to Ahn Seo-hyun and Swinton, the cast will also include Jake Gyllenhaal, Paul Dano, Lily Collins, The Walking Dead's Steven Yeun and Breaking Bad's Giancarlo Esposito.

"Okja" will be released globally on Netflix this summer, currently slated for a June 28th release. The film will also open in select theaters on the same day.

synopsis:
From visionary Director Bong Joon Ho, this grand global adventure follows a friendship too big to ignore. Meet Mija, a young girl who risks everything to prevent a powerful, multi-national company from kidnapping her best friend -- a massive animal named Okja. Following her across continents, the coming-of-age comedy drama sees Mija's horizons expand in a way one never would want for one’s children, coming up against the harsh realities of genetically modified food experimentation, globalization, eco-terrorism, and humanity’s obsession with image, brand and self-promotion.
