Will Smith patrols the mean streets of an orc-infested Los Angeles in the very first teaser trailer for "Bright," Netflix's gritty fantasy-cop thriller hybrid from "Suicide Squad" director David Ayer and "Chronicle" screenwriter Max Landis.

The new 30-second preview, which just debuted during Sunday night's broadcast of the 89th Academy Awards, offers the first peek at the hotly anticipated Netflix movie, which is also starring Joel Edgerton, Noomi Rapace, Edgar Ramirez, Lucy Fry, Margaret Cho, and Ike Barinholtz.

Set in an alternate world where mystical creatures (orcs, elves, and fairies) and humans co-exist, Smith plays an L.A. police officer who's forced to work with a new partner, who happens to be an Orc being (played by Edgerton).

"Bright" is slated for a December release, streaming exclusively on Netflix.
