Charlie Hunnam pulls a sword from a stone and discovers his true destiny in a new full-length trailer for "King Arthur: Legend of the Sword," the latest film iteration of the Arthurian myth.

The former "Sons of Anarchy" actor plays the titular Arthur Pendragon in this epic medieval fantasy adventure film from Guy Ritchie, the action director of the Robert Downey Jr. "Sherlock Holmes" movies.

In this souped-up version, Arthur is a scrappy Englishman from the streets who, after uncovering his royal lineage, grudgingly embarks on a quest to seize the throne from his evil uncle, the all-powerful Vortigern (played by Jude Law). He is, of course, the man who unjustly took control of the kingdom when Arthur's father, King Uther Pendragon (Eric Bana), was double-crossed and slaughtered decades ago.

"King Arthur" also stars Djimon Hounsou, Astrid Berges-Frisbey, Aidan Gillen and Michael McElhatton. It will be arriving in theaters on May 12th.

synopsis:
Acclaimed filmmaker Guy Ritchie brings his dynamic style to the epic fantasy action adventure "King Arthur: Legend of the Sword." Starring Charlie Hunnam in the title role, the film is an iconoclastic take on the classic Excalibur myth, tracing Arthur's journey from the streets to the throne.

When the child Arthur's father is murdered, Vortigern (Jude Law), Arthur’s uncle, seizes the crown. Robbed of his birthright and with no idea who he truly is, Arthur comes up the hard way in the back alleys of the city. But once he pulls the sword from the stone, his life is turned upside down and he is forced to acknowledge his true legacy ... whether he likes it or not.
