Jessica Biel returns to television, starring in a new twisty murder investigation series for the USA network.
Check out the first trailer for "The Sinner," a provocative crime thriller, set up as the first installment of a new anthology series, based on the international bestseller by German crime novelist Petra Hammesfahr.
Biel plays a seemingly normal woman who becomes the center of a murder investigation after she inexplicably stabs a stranger to death at a local beach. Bill Pullman, of "Independence Day" fame, is the lead detective in charge of finding out the reason for her psychotic actions. Was there some kind of connection between the two or is she just cuckoo for cocoa puffs?
"Girls" actor Christopher Abbott co-stars as Biel's husband.
Antonio Campos, the director of last year's acclaimed psychological news reporter drama "Christine," helms the pilot episode of "The Sinner," which will be premiering sometime in the summer on USA.

The first installment of the close-ended series follows a young mother (Jessica Biel) who, when overcome by an inexplicable fit of rage, commits a startling act of violence and to her horror has no idea why. The event launches an inverted and utterly surprising crime thriller whose driving force is not the "who" or the "what" -- but the "why" -- as an investigator (Bill Pullman) finds himself obsessed with uncovering the woman's buried motive. Together they travel a harrowing journey into the depths of her psyche and the violent secrets hidden in her past.
