Check out a new "all-star" trailer for the upcoming big-screen adaptation of the long-running kid-friendly sci-fi action series "The Power Rangers," featuring Elizabeth Banks as Rita Repulsa, a former Green Ranger who eventually turns evil and becomes the powerful archenemy of the newly-assembled Power Rangers.
The new preview, which is scheduled to air this weekend during the NBA All-Star Weekend, reveals new glimpses of the five young high school heroes as they stumble across an alien crash site where they find five special coins, which give each of them super strength and an impervious space armor ... like "Spider-man" or "Iron Man."
The teen actors who are playing the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers include Becky G. (FOX's Empire) as the Yellow Ranger, Dacre Montgomery (Stranger Things) as the Red Ranger, Naomi Scott (FOX's Terra Nova) as the Pink Ranger, Ludi Lin (Monster Hunt) as the Black Ranger, and RJ Cyler (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl) as the Blue Ranger. Oscar-nominated actor Bryan Cranston lends his voice (and, somewhat, his likeness) to Zordon, an alien lifeforce who mentors the teen superheroes. Meanwhile, Bill Hader is voicing a small robot assistant, called Alpha 5.
"Power Rangers" is directed by "Project Almanac" helmer Dean Israelite and is set to invade theaters on March 24th.
SABAN'S POWER RANGERS follows five ordinary teens who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove -- and the world -- is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so, they will have to overcome their real-life issues and before it’s too late, band together as the Power Rangers.
