The Void — Teaser Trailer

Do you prefer old-school practical special effects over computer-generated monsters? Do you wish all horror movies can evoke the same gung-ho spirit of John Carpenter's classic alien monster movie "The Thing?" Well, this new '80s horror movie-inspired concoction from Canadian filmmakers Jeremy Gillespie and Steven Kostanski might be right up your alley.

Check out the teaser trailer for "The Void," a horror/sci-fi mind-bender about a small-town police officer (played by Aaron Poole; from the Canadian western series "Strange Empire") who rushes a badly injured pedestrian to a nearby hospital, only to later realize that he must've gotten himself trapped inside the first circle of Hell.

Ellen Wong (Scott Pilgrim vs the World), Kathleen Munroe (Alphas), Kenneth Welsh (The Aviator) and Daniel Fathers also star.

"The Void" is written and directed by Jeremy Gillespie and Steven Kostanski, both of whom are members of Astron-6, the small Canadian filmmaking collective known for the low-budget retro-genre films "Manborg," "Father's Day," and "The Editor."

Along with directing a segment in the horror anthology "ABCs of Death 2," Gillespie and Kostanski have also established a film career as an assistant art director and special makeup effects artist, respectively. They both have worked behind the scenes on such films as "Suicide Squad," "Pacific Rim," and the upcoming "It" movie.

"The Void" premiered at last year's Fantastic Fest. The film will be receiving a U.K. release on March 31st, with a Stateside release to follow.

Encountering a blood-soaked man on a dark deserted road, a police officer rushes the victim to the local hospital. Soon the staff and patients are trapped by a terrifying, otherworldly threat and forced on a hellish voyage into the depths of the building to escape the nightmare. Shocking, haunting and boasting mind-blowing practical special effects, The Void is a new must-see horror event written and directed by Jeremy Gillespie and Steven Kostanski and from the Executive Producer of The Witch.
