"She's like you, very much like you," said an ailing Professor X (Patrick Stewart) to a grizzled Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) in the previously released trailer for the much-anticipated movie "Logan."
Now a newly released viral video shows that the young mutant girl Professor X was referring to had also undergone an experimental surgical enhancement (a procedure similar to what was done to Wolverine), which implanted the feral girl with two razor-sharp adamantium claws. Ouch!
The mutant tyke is known in the film as Laura (played by newcomer Dafne Keen). But in the X-men comic book universe, she goes by another name: X-23. She is, in fact, the clone-daughter of Wolverine and shares many of Logan's mutant abilities, like super-human strength and fast-healing powers.
And though the X-23/Laura character was not a part of the "Old Man Logan" comic book storyline, on which the film is loosely based, she does, however, play a vital role in this third and final Jackman-starring Wolverine installment from writer-director James Mangold.
"Logan," which, by the way, is rated R for "strong brutal violence," "language" and "brief nudity," opens nationwide March 3rd.
In the near future, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X in a hideout on the Mexican border. But Logan's attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young mutant arrives, being pursued by dark forces.
