Famed abolitionist hero Harriet Tubman has joined season two of the John Legend-produced, slavery-era drama series "Underground," about slaves (Friday Night Lights' Jurnee Smollett-Bell and Straight Outta Compton's Aldis Hodge) who risk everything to escape a Georgia plantation.

Harriet Tubman, as portrayed by a gun-toting Aisha Hinds (who recently co-starred in HBO's LBJ biopic "All the Way" with Bryan Cranston and Anthony Mackie), will play a critical part in the new 10-episode season as the WGN America series will further explore the history of the underground railroad while detailing several historical events that led up to the American Civil War.

The series, created by Misha Green (Syfy's Helix) and Joe Pokaski (NBC's Heroes), also stars Marc Blucas, Christopher Meloni, Alano Miller, Sadie Stratton, Jessica De Gouw, and Amirah Vann.

"Underground: Season 2" is set to premiere on Wednesday, March 8th on WGN America. In the meantime, you can watch the newly released trailer, above.
