And the LEGO film franchise just keeps going. This time, it's tackling the ninja genre.

Check out the first trailer for "The LEGO NINJAGO Movie," the third entry in the toy-based animated film series, featuring the voices of legendary action star Jackie Chan, Dave Franco, and Justin Theroux.

Based on Cartoon Network's "Ninjago" animated series, the action-comedy centers on a LEGO team of six unseasoned ninjas led by their wise old mentor Master Wu (Chan). While the team begins their training, a battle starts to rage between the evil warlord Garmadon (Theroux) and Master Wu's star pupil: Lloyd, aka the Green Ninja (Franco), who just so happens to be Garmadon's estranged son.

Fred Armisen, Abbi Jacobson, Kumail Nanjiani, Michael Pena, Zach Woods and Olivia Munn make up the rest of the voice cast.

Charlie Bean, the animated director of the Disney XD series "TRON: Uprising," is making his feature directorial debut with "The LEGO Ninjago Movie," which is slated for a September 22 release.

In this big-screen NINJAGO adventure, the battle for NINJAGO City calls to action young Master Builder Lloyd, aka the Green Ninja, along with his friends, who are all secret ninja warriors. Led by Master Wu, as wise-cracking as he is wise, they must defeat evil warlord Garmadon, The Worst Guy Ever, who also happens to be Lloyd's dad. Pitting mech against mech and father against son, the epic showdown will test this fierce but undisciplined team of modern-day ninjas who must learn to check their egos and pull together to unleash their inner power of Spinjitzu.
