A crucial family meeting turns into a bitter war of words in the trailer for "The Dinner," a new thought-provoking suspense drama starring Richard Gere, Laura Linney, Steve Coogan, and Rebecca Hall.

Based on Dutch writer Herman Koch's international best-seller of the same name, the film revolves around a mysterious incident that, as a result, brings two estranged brothers -- a successful congressman (Gere) and a struggling high-school teacher (Coogan) -- and their respective spouses (Hall and Linney) together for a private dinner so they can openly discuss their family's future.

Written and directed by Oren Moverman, the Oscar-nominated screenwriter and director of "The Messenger," the upcoming movie co-stars Chloe Sevigny (American Horror Story), Charlie Plummer (King Jack), and Seamus Davey-Fitzpatrick (2006's The Omen).

"The Dinner" will be released on May 5th.

synopsis:
A former history teacher and his wife Claire meet at a fancy restaurant with his elder brother, a prominent politician and his wife Babette. The plan is to discuss over dinner how to handle a crime committed by their teenage sons. The violent act of the two boys had been filmed by a security camera and shown on TV, but, so far, they have not been identified. The parents have to decide on what to do.
