Danny Rand is back from the dead. And he's gained "special skills" to rid New York City of crime and evil.
Get ready to meet New York's final defender as Netflix has released the official trailer for their new original superhero series, Marvel's "Iron Fist," which completes Marvel's line-up of street-level superheroes.
The new action series focuses on the origins of martial arts superhero "Iron Fist" a.k.a. Danny Rand (played by "Game of Thrones" actor Finn Jones), who is a billionaire heir from New York, whose parents tragically died in a plane crash when he was a young boy.
Though thought to have also died in that same plane crash, Danny unexpectedly returns home after spending most of his life under the tutelage of Buddhist monks. Now highly proficient in the martial arts, Danny uses his fighting skills -- and also his new ability to call upon the power of the Iron Fist -- to defend New York from a new menacing threat.
Developed into a series by Emmy-nominated TV producer/writer Scott Buck (Dexter, Six Feet Under), "Iron Fist" also stars David Wenham (The Lord of the Rings, 300) as Danny's main rival and his parents' evil former business partner. Jessica Henwick (Nymeria Sand on "Game of Thrones") plays Danny's new ally, who runs her own martial arts dojo. Jessica Stroup (from TV's "The Following") is Danny's childhood friend. Rounding out the cast is Rosario Dawson, who's back as Hell's Kitchen nurse Claire Temple, a character that appears in all of the Netflix/Marvel shows.
Marvel's "Iron Fist" is set to premiere on Friday, March 17th. It will serve as the final bridge that leads to the highly anticipated superhero team-up series "The Defenders," which is debuting in September.
Fifteen years after being presumed dead in a plane crash, Danny Rand (Finn Jones) mysteriously returns to New York City determined to reclaim his birthright and family company. However, when a long-destined enemy rises in New York, this living weapon is forced to choose between his family’s legacy and his duties as the Iron Fist.
