Prepare to go deep inside the mind of a telepathic mutant ... a deeply troubled, telepathic mutant that is.
FX has released a brand-new "first look" featurette for their latest original series "Legion," which is flipping the superhero genre entirely on its head as it tells a visually immersive story about a schizophrenic mutant named David Haller (better known in the comic book world as "Legion" -- and also as Professor Charles Xavier's mentally ill son).
Noah Hawley, the Emmy-winning creator of the "Fargo" series, is spearheading this X-Men-based drama series, which isn't necessarily tied to the X-Men cinematic universe, per se.
The eight-part FX drama stars Dan Stevens (upcoming "Beauty and the Beast") as the institutionalized David Haller, who grows to believe his vivid hallucinations might be symptoms of having strange, yet powerful telepathic powers.
Aubrey Plaza, Rachel Keller, Jean Smart, Hamish Linklater and Katie Aselton are among the cast.
Hawley writes and directs the pilot episode, which is set to premiere on Wednesday, February 8th.
Legion follows David Haller, a troubled young man who may be more than human. Diagnosed as schizophrenic, David has been in and out of psychiatric hospitals for years. But after a strange encounter with a fellow patient, he’s confronted with the possibility that the voices he hears and visions might be real.
