Oscar-nominated Mexican actor Demian Bichir (A Better Life, The Hateful Eight) plays an East Los Angeles car mechanic and vintage car restorer who finds himself at odds with his sons in the newly-released trailer for "Lowriders."

Set against the backdrop of the Latino car culture in Boyle Heights, Los Angeles, the drama focuses on the strained relationship between a Mexican-American father (Bichir) and his two sons -- a young teenage graffiti artist (played by "East Los High" star Gabriel Chavarria) and a newly paroled troublemaker (Sons of Anarchy's Theo Rossi).

Directed by Peruvian helmer Ricardo de Montreuil (it's his first English-language film), and produced by Oscar-winner Brian Grazer and prolific horror producer Jason Blum, "Lowriders" co-stars Eva Longoria, Supergirl's Melissa Benoist, and Dope's Tony Revolori.

Set to open in theaters on May 12th, the film will be released under Jason Blum's distribution label, BH Tilt. It's also the first film project to be launched by Telemundo Films, the newly minted film division of the NBCU Telemundo television network.

synopsis:
"Lowriders" is set against the vibrant backdrop of East LA's near-spiritual car culture and follows the story of Danny, a talented young street artist caught between the lowrider world inhabited by his old-school father and ex-con brother, and the adrenaline-fueled outlet that defines his self-expression.
