Oscar-winner Anne Hathaway wakes up and finds out that she's somehow connected to a giant monster wreaking havoc across the globe in her latest sci-fi movie "Colossal," which adds a quirky comedic twist to the classic monster movie genre. Check out the film's first teaser trailer, which is expected to arrive in theaters sometime this April.
In the film, Hathaway plays Gloria, an unemployed party girl who finds herself returning to her hometown after a break up with her Ex (Dan Stevens) and reconnects with her old drinking buddies (Jason Sudeikis, Tim Blake Nelson, and Austin Stowell). After a night of drinking, Gloria awakens with a foggy memory and strange feeling of a monster attack in Seoul, only to find out that it's all true, and that she is inexplicably connected to the giant creature.
Written and directed by cult Spanish filmmaker Nacho Vigalondo (Timecrimes, Open Windows), "Colossal" is the first feature film to be distributed by NEON Pictures, the company formed by former RADiUS principal Tom Quinn and the Alamo Drafthouse's Tim League.
"Colossal" will play at the Sundance Film Festival this weekend, before opening in theaters everywhere on April 7th.
Gloria (Anne Hathaway) is a hard partying New York scene girl who is thrust into crisis when her boyfriend, Tim (Dan Stevens), grows sick of her antics and kicks her out of their apartment. With no other options, she moves back to her hometown and quickly regresses, drinking every night until last call and accepting a job at a bar owned by her childhood friend Oscar (Jason Sudeikis). One day she wakes up and blurrily finds out that Seoul was terrorized by a giant creature the night before. Eventually, Gloria begins to suspect her own drunken actions are bizarrely connected to the monster rampaging in South Korea.
