Being a mutant isn't all it's cracked up to be -- especially if you're now living in a dystopian future where most of your mutant friends are either dying or dead.
In his latest -- and possibly his last -- outing as Wolverine, Hugh Jackman plays the fan-favorite X-man character at his most vulnerable and also at his most primordial in the forthcoming R-rated superhero thriller "Logan," for which a brand-new trailer has been released, today.
Loosely based on the 'Old Man Logan' comic-book storyline, the film imagines a bleak future where nearly all mutants have been hunted down and murdered. While feeling the effects of aging (his regenerative healing abilities aren't as powerful as they once were), a battle-scarred Logan comes out of hiding to reunite with an old friend: a sick and aging Professor Charles Xavier (played by Patrick Stewart).
While evading a group of mutant-capturing mercenaries led by a cyborg soldier ("Narcos" actor Boyd Holbrook), Logan and Charles find themselves guarding a mysterious young mutant girl (newcomer Dafne Keen) whose powers are "very much" like Logan's.
Helmed by James Mangold, the director of "The Wolverine," the film co-stars Stephen Merchant (as mutant tracker Caliban), Richard E. Grant, Elizabeth Rodriguez, and Eriq La Salle.
"Logan" hits theaters March 3rd.
In the near future, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X in a hideout on the Mexican border. But Logan's attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young mutant arrives, being pursued by dark forces.
