If you liked Netflix's "Stranger Things" but thought it could've been better if it was less about monsters and more about dinosaurs -- well then, you may want to keep your eye on this little action-adventure movie.

"My Pet Dinosaur," which is apparently being billed as "E.T. meets Pixar," has a strong "Stranger Things" vibe, but the kids in this movie are not living in the 1980s, nor do they stumble on a girl with psychokinetic powers in the middle of the woods. Instead, they discover a little, friendly -- wait, for it -- pet dinosaur.

The film is written and directed by Australian filmmaker Matt Drummond, who is also an Emmy-winning visual effects artist whose credits include creating and supervising the digital effects on several science-themed documentary series for the History and Discovery channels (2014's Big History, 2008's Life After People and 2007's Prehistoric Predators).

Featuring a cast of mostly preteen actors -- Jordan Dulieu, Annabel Wolfe, Harrison Saunders -- except for English actor Rowley Holmes who plays an evil military soldier and Australian actress Beth Champion as one of the kids' mothers, "My Pet Dinosaur" is currently seeking distribution. Ahead of its premiere at next month's European Film Market, the producers of the film have released a promo trailer (via hollywoodreporter.com). Watch it above.
