33-year-old French writer-director Julia Ducournau makes an auspicious debut with "Raw," an eerie metaphoric horror movie about a young precocious veterinary student who strays from her strict vegetarian upbringing to taste raw meat for the first time, only to have it generate an insatiable craving for human flesh.

The French-language film, starring newcomer Garance Marillier, premiered to glowing reviews at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival. It has since been one of the most-buzzed-out films on the festival circuit.

Currently scheduled to screen at Sundance next week, "Raw" is expected to open in U.S. theaters on March 10th. Watch the film's red band trailer, above.
