'80s cult horror movie "The Gate" has been re-mastered and restored for an upcoming home-video release, and you can now check out a brand-new Blu-ray trailer.

Featuring the film debut of a very young Stephen Dorff, "The Gate" tells the story of two preteen boys (and their 16-year-old babysitter) who accidentally unleashes an army of small demonic creatures from a hole in their backyard.

Canadian filmmaker Tibor Takacs directed the film from an original screenplay by Michael Nankin, who would later become a successful TV director and producer; working on such shows as "Battlestar Galactica," "Defiance," and most recently FOX's small screen version of "The Exorcist."

The new restored version of "The Gate," which also starred Christa Denton and Louis Tripp, will be released on Blu-ray on February 28.

After an old tree is removed from the ground, three young children accidentally release a horde of nasty, pint-sized demons from the hole in a suburban backyard. What follows is a classic battle between good and evil as the three kids struggle to overcome a nightmarish hell that is literally taking over the Earth.
