While it doesn't hit theaters until October of next year, Warner Bros has decided to give "Blade Runner" fans an early Christmas gift. Behold the very first trailer for "Blade Runner 2049," the long-awaited sequel to director Ridley Scott's groundbreaking 1982 sci-fi thriller.

This time, the movie stars Ryan Gosling as an LAPD Officer (and the new blade runner) who goes searching for detective Rick Deckard (once again played by Harrison Ford), thirty years after he went missing.

Scott, who's been busy directing a new "Alien" movie, is only serving as a producer on the upcoming sequel, while the directing duties have been turned over to French-Canadian helmer Denis Villeneuve, of "Arrival" and "Sicario" fame.

"Blade Runner 2049" will arrive in theaters on October 6, 2017.
