added: Fri, Dec 16th '16

Before the second season premieres in May, Netflix plans to release a two-hour Christmas special for "Sense8," the head-scratching action series from The Wachowskis and "Babylon 5" creator J. Michael Straczynski. And now we're getting a look at what's in store, as the streaming company has unveiled the trailer for the upcoming event.

Featuring a diverse international cast led by Doona Bae (The Host), Brian J. Smith (SGU Stargate), Naveen Andrews (Lost), Tuppence Middleton (The Imitation Game), and newcomer Toby Onwumere (who replaces "Maze Runner" actor Aml Ameen in the new season), the series centers on eight individuals, from eight different cities around the world, who are psychically linked together. Each with the power to tap into each other's knowledge and skills.

The Christmas special will be premiering on Friday, December 23rd -- while the show's ten-episode second season is slated for a May 5th release.

One moment links 8 minds in disparate parts of the world, putting 8 strangers in each other's lives, each other's secrets, and in terrible danger. From the unparalleled creative minds of The Wachowskis (The Matrix trilogy, Cloud Atlas) and J. Michael Straczynski (Clint Eastwood's Changeling, World War Z) -- as well as Grant Hill, this global dramatic thriller is unlike anything seen on before. "Sense8" pushes the boundaries in style, scope and story.
