Actress Brit Marling and filmmaker Zal Batmanglij, who together created 2011's cult-themed headscratcher "Sound of My Voice" and 2013's eco-terrorist thriller "The East," have once again teamed up -- but this time, it's for a new eight-part mystery thriller for Netflix, called "The OA."

The streaming company has released the trailer for the upcoming limited series, giving viewers a first peek at Marling as a former blind woman who is found after being mysteriously missing for seven years. Struggling to recognize her loved ones -- though is now miraculously able to see, she embarks on a scientific journey to explore her past memories with the hope of fully understanding the trauma (and miracle) she went through.

Batmanglij directs all eight episodes of the Netflix drama, which also stars Jason Isaacs, Scott Wilson, Alice Krige, Emory Cohen, Patrick Gibson, Brendan Meyer, and Paz Vega.

"The OA" is due to premiere this week, beginning Friday, December 16.
