added: Wed, Dec 7th '16

Here's another look at the upcoming second season of the acclaimed Syfy series "The Expanse" about humanity's incendiary efforts to colonize Mars and other parts of the Solar System.

Based on the best-selling book series by James S.A. Corey (the joint pseudonym for sci-fi authors Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck), "The Expanse" boasts a strong ensemble cast led by Thomas Jane, Steven Strait, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Dominique Tipper, Wes Chatham, and Chad L. Coleman.

Set 200 years in the future, much of the space-set drama revolves around the political machinations of rival coalitions. And this new above trailer is urging the viewer "to pick a side."

"The Expanse: Season 2," in which "The Last Witch Hunter" director Breck Eisner helms the first two episodes of the new season, is scheduled to premiere Wednesday, February 1, 2017.

Hundreds of years in the future, humans have colonized the solar system. The U.N. controls Earth. Mars is an independent military power. The planets rely on the resources of the Asteroid Belt, where air and water are more precious than gold. For decades, tensions have been rising between these three places. Earth, Mars and the Belt are now on the brink of war. And all it will take is a single spark.
