Christina Ricci is a menace to high society in the first trailer for Amazon's newest original series "Z: The Beginning of Everything."

Based on Therese Anne Fowler's biographical book "Z: A Novel of Zelda Fitzgerald," the ten-episode drama follows the tumultuous love affair between hard-partying Southern socialite/flapper Zelda Sayre (played by Ricci) and the then-unpublished novelist F. Scott Fitzgerald (played by TV's "Allegiance" actor Gavin Stenhouse).

Set during the early days of the Jazz Age (circa "the Roaring Twenties"), the series dramatizes the years before Fitzgerald became a literary icon for writing his 1925 masterpiece "The Great Gatsby," which in part was influenced by the woman he married: "Z."

Created and written by TV producing-writing duo Dawn Prestwich and Nicole Yorkin (The Killing, The Riches), the Amazon drama also stars David Strathairn and Jim True-Frost.

Actor-filmmaker Tim Blake Nelson (Anesthesia, The Grey Zone) directs the pilot episode, which is currently available for streaming. The rest of the show's first season will premiere on Friday, January 27, 2017.
