In the new thriller "The Circle," Emma Watson stars as a young Silicon Valley worker who joins an exciting, social-networking company, only to realize that she has completely relinquished her rights to privacy -- and possibly her rights to personal liberty.

"We care about everybody you care about," declares Tom Hanks in the film's newly released trailer (watch it above). Hanks plays a powerful tech mogul whose Facebook-like company is perhaps more cult than commercial. "Because knowing is good. But knowing everything is ... better," Hanks says with an air of equal parts confidence and duplicity.

The film, written and directed by James Ponsoldt (The End of the Tour, The Spectacular Now), is an adaptation of the 2013 best-selling novel by writer Dave Eggers (A Hologram for the King).

In addition to Watson and Hanks, the cast also includes "The Force Awakens" star John Boyega and Guardians of the Galaxy's Karen Gillan.

"The Circle" is due to hit theaters on April 28, 2017.
