Emile Hirsch and Brian Cox are trying the find the cause of death of an unidentified woman, only to accidentally unleash a supernatural evil in the process.

Check out the new trailer for "The Autopsy of Jane Doe," the latest thriller from cult Norwegian horror filmmaker Andre Ovredal, of "Trollhunter" fame.

Set in a morgue during the night shift, the film follows a medical examiner (Cox) and his son/assistant (Hirsch) as they examine the cadaver of a mysterious twenty-something-year-old woman. Upon further review, they surmise she was likely bound, poisoned, and tortured to death. But that's not the most disturbing part. As they quickly discover that her dead body could be harboring a malicious spirit.

Co-starring Ophelia Lovibond and Michael McElhatton, "The Autopsy of Jane Doe" will be available on VOD beginning December 20 and is also expected to open in select theaters on December 21.

synopsis:
Experienced coroner Tommy Tilden and his grown-up son Austin run a family-owned morgue and crematorium in Virginia. When the local Sheriff brings in an emergency case -- an unknown female corpse nicknamed 'Jane Doe', found in the basement of a home where a multiple homicide took place -- it seems like just another open-and-shut case. But as the autopsy proceeds, these seasoned professionals are left reeling as each layer of their inspection brings frightening new revelations. Perfectly preserved on the outside, Jane Doe's insides have been scarred, charred and dismembered -- seemingly the victim of a horrific yet mysterious ritualistic torture. As Tommy and Austin begin to piece together these gruesome discoveries, an unnatural force takes hold of the crematorium. While a violent storm rages above ground, it seems the real horrors lie on the inside...
