"Avatar" star Sam Worthington is a deeply grieving father who discovers a little piece of heaven in the middle of the Oregon wilderness in the trailer for the faith-based tearjerker "The Shack."

Based on the best-selling novel by William Paul Young, the film also stars Oscar-winner Octavia Spencer, Radha Mitchell, and country superstar Tim McGraw.

Directed by British filmmaker Stuart Hazeldine (Exam), "The Shack" follows a father's unbelievable spiritual journey from suffering the tragic loss of his daughter to traveling to the middle of nowhere, only to discover that he's been invited to a special place on Earth where he can meet and talk to God... or rather a spiritual female being named Papa (played by Spencer).

Co-starring Avraham Aviv Alush, Sumire Matsubara, Alice Braga, Graham Greene, and Ryan Robbins, "The Shack" is arriving in theaters March 3, 2017.

synopsis:
Based on the New York Times best-selling novel, The Shack takes us on a father's uplifting spiritual journey. After suffering a family tragedy, Mack Phillips (Sam Worthington) spirals into a deep depression causing him to question his innermost beliefs. Facing a crisis of faith, he receives a mysterious letter urging him to an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness. Despite his doubts, Mack journeys to the shack and encounters an enigmatic trio of strangers led by a woman named Papa (Octavia Spencer). Through this meeting, Mack finds important truths that will transform his understanding of his tragedy and change his life forever.
