Sean William Scott is back as dopey hockey bruiser Doug "The Thug" Glatt in the first trailer for "Goon: Last of the Enforcers," the sequel to the 2012 cult comedy about the unlikely rise of a semi-pro Canadian hockey star, who's known more for his blood-soaked fists rather than his ice-skating skills.

The film will also see the return of Liev Schreiber as Doug Glatt's number-one rival and veteran enforcer Ross "The Boss" Rhea. Meanwhile, Marc-Andre Grondin, Jonathan Cherry, and Kim Coates have returned to play Doug's belligerent teammates and their quick-tempered coach.

Canadian comic actor Jay Baruchel, who co-wrote the original film, returns to play Doug's best friend and hockey frantic, Pat. Baruchel is also making his directorial debut with the forthcoming sequel, which is adding Wyatt Russell, Elisha Cuthbert, Callum Keith Rennie, and Jason Jones to the cast, which also includes an appearance by Alison Pill as Doug's very pregnant girlfriend, Eva.

"Goon: Last of the Enforcers" is slated for a 2017 release and will open first in Canada on March 17.

synopsis:
It's a new day for the Halifax Highlanders. A pro lockout has reunited old teammates and brought a crew of new players to the bench; notably missing from the line-up, however, is everyone's favorite enforcer and heart of the team, Doug "The Thug" Glatt. Sidelined after one too many hits and now married with a baby on the way, Doug is hanging up his skates and settling into life as an insurance salesman. But when Doug's nemesis, Anders Cain, is made captain of the Highlanders and new ownership threatens to tear his team apart, Doug is compelled back into action.

Ignoring the wishes of wife Eva, Doug heads to the rink, discovering an unlikely training partner in fellow retired enforcer and one-time arch rival, Ross "The Boss" Rhea. Together with grit, passion and unrivaled loyalty, they will grind out one last chance to do what they do best ... protect their team.
