In 2013, Russian action director Fedor Bondarchuk helmed the WWII epic "Stalingrad," which became the highest-grossing film in Russian history. He now aims to top that record next year with a big-budget alien invasion thriller that looks pretty darn impressive if you ask us.

Check out the international trailer for Bondarchuk's new film "Attraction," which explores a frightening scenario in which metallic-looking aliens have invaded Earth with the intent of eliminating the human race.

Said to be the first Russian film to explore the science-fiction premise of Earth-invading aliens, "Attraction" features an all-Russian cast that includes Oleg Menshikov, Alexander Petrov, Rinal Mukhameto, and Irina Starshenbaum.

With special effects created by Russia's leading VFX house, Main Road Post (Wanted, Stalingrad), the film's sound effects are being designed by Dave Whitehead, the award-winning sound designer of "District 9," "King Kong" and the recent sci-fi hit "Arrival."

"Attraction" is scheduled to open in Russia (in IMAX) on January 26, 2017, with a worldwide release to follow.

synopsis:
"Attraction" offers a large-scale sci-fi chronicle of the mankind whose life is forever changed by a mysterious flying space object crashing over Moscow. It's a delicately told heart-piercing story of people trying to get used to the new life, understand each other and embrace an unknown future through the tough times.
