Pixar revs up another sequel for their highly-successful animated "Cars" series, starring the voice of Owen Wilson as the legendary red-colored race car Lightning McQueen. Check out an early teaser trailer for the third film of the franchise, simply titled "Cars 3," which seems to have an updated look that will be putting moviegoers directly into the driver's seat.

The film will pick up with Lightning McQueen (Wilson) as a victorious veteran racer who gets into a massive wreck on the raceway, which will leave him wondering if it's time to just retire from racing or to treat it like just another pit stop. Helping McQueen to regroup is his girlfriend, Sally Carrera (Bonnie Hunt), and his old Radiator Springs' best buds tow-truck Mater (Larry the Cable Guy) and auto-body shop owner Ramone (Cheech Marin).

Also joining in on Lightning's rehab is new friend Cruz Ramirez, a young yellow-colored Hispanic female racer that is going to teach the old race dog some new tricks. So far, a voice actor has yet to be announced for Cruz Ramirez or the film's new nemesis Jackson Storm, a hotshot racer that is leading the crowd of new rookie sensations.

"Cars 3" is directed by Brian Fee (storyboard artist “Cars,” “Cars 2“), who will be making his feature debut. It's currently set to open in theaters on June 16, 2017.
