From the producers of the critically acclaimed Belgian film "Bullhead" comes a new intense crime thriller about the perils of loyalty and brotherhood.
Check out the international trailer for "The Ardennes," starring Belgian actors Kevin Janssens and Jeroen Perceval as two brothers whose bonds are tested when one of them tries to go back to his previous life of crime.
Acclaimed Belgian actress Veerle Baetens and acclaimed Belgian actor Jan Bijvoet, who both starred in the Oscar-nominated foreign drama "The Broken Circle Breakdown" (while Bijvoet also starred in the cult Dutch thriller "Borgman"), round out the cast.
Co-written and directed by first-time feature filmmaker Robin Pront, "The Ardennes" has been chosen to be Belgium's official submission for the 2017 Academy Awards in the Best Foreign Film category. The movie will open in the UK next month, on December 16, while a U.S. release is due to follow in early 2017.
synopsis:
Brothers Dave and Kenneth are reunited on Kenneth's release after four years in prison following a failed home invasion. While Kenneth is anxious to dive headfirst into the drug-centred existence that ensnared him in the first place, both Dave and Kenneth's erstwhile girlfriend Sylvie, have adopted clean lifestyles. Drugs, crime and the bonds of brotherhood create this dark crime thriller journey in The Ardennes.
