Rogue One: A Star Wars Story — New Featurette

To say, making "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" was a dream come true for director Gareth Edwards may be selling it a bit short. The original 1977 "Star Wars" film is very likely the reason why the "Godzilla" director became a filmmaker in the first place, but Edwards never once thought in his wildest dreams that he would actually grow up to direct the first ever "Star Wars" spin-off movie. And Edwards wasn't the only one excited and overwhelmed by the project.

It seems every member of the cast and crew of "Rogue One" felt the enormous magnitude of the franchise legacy. And a few of them even take some time to express their excitement in a new behind-the-scenes featurette, which also reveals some new footage from the sure-fire blockbuster.

Starring Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen, Riz Ahmed, with Forest Whitaker, Mads Mikkelsen, and Ben Mendelsohn, "Rogue One" is based on a few lines in the opening crawl of "A New Hope," in which it quickly mentions the Rebel Alliance's first victory against the evil Galactic Empire during which a group of rebel spies managed to steal the plans to the Death Star.

"Rogue One" opens everywhere on December 16.

From Lucasfilm comes the first of the Star Wars standalone films, "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story," an all-new epic adventure. In a time of conflict, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire's ultimate weapon of destruction. This key event in the Star Wars timeline brings together ordinary people who choose to do extraordinary things, and in doing so, become part of something greater than themselves.
